Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care (BSRC)
PRIORITY Application for Admission with early notification
Opens November 1st and Closes December 15th
(This application submission is for students seeking priority admission when applying and have met the following requirements by the deadline.)
OR
GENERAL Application for Admission will be accepted until the class is filled with 48 quality applicants.
Requirements:
1. Applicant is currently an active Texas State student or has been admitted at the time of application as an active student for the upcoming Fall semester. To apply for admission to Texas State, please visit: GoApplyTexas.org
2. The applicant will have no more than 15 hours of pending and in progress Pre-requisite courses (including RC 2213) to be completed by the end of the Spring semester. No summer classes will be considered for the PRIORITY application phase. (This requirement is waived for the general admission application.)
3. Overall GPA of 2.25 or higher
4. Completed BSRC Application
5. Completed ADA form
6. A written statement explaining why you want to pursue respiratory care as a career. (Please make sure your name and A# on are on all communication)
7. One MP4 formatted video explaining: Why you chose the B.S.R.C. program at TX State University to achieve this career goal?
8. Transcripts for classes taken outside of TX State University not yet transferred into TX State University or not viewable on your Degree Audit.
Notifications:
Priority applications will be processed, and decision emails sent out the end of the first FULL week of February.
Applications received during the Priority Application Phase that DO NOT meet the requirements listed above, WILL automatically default to the General Application for Admission.
General applications will be processed, and decision emails sent out the Second FULL week of June or within 14 business days of application, if received after June 1st.
IMPORTANT: Background checks, drug screening, and proof of immunization are required following initial acceptance into the program. Applicants must successfully clear each of these three requirements to be fully accepted into the program.
Texas State University is not required to admit to the program an applicant with a flagged background check who has been given tentative clearance for a license by the Texas Medical Board (TMB.) Applicants should be aware that such clearance by TMB does not guarantee an applicant’s employability.
Finally, applicants should be aware that the University does not control the individual requirements of hospital systems for clinical rotations and employment and that such requirements might directly impact an applicant’s ability to complete their clinical education, obtain future employment, or obtain appropriate licensure.
