Congratulations to our Master's Class of 2023! You did it!
Graduate Students in the Neurogenic, Voice, and Swallowing (NVS) Concentration attended the 2023 Conference for the Texas Laryngectomee Association in Dallas. Here they are pictured with the chairman, Frank Brick.
CDIS undergraduate students learned a lot about client-centered care and early childhood education in Clinical Service Delivery. The CDIS department really appreciates our community partners for education and supervision of the next generation of speech-language pathologists and audiologists!
Fall 2022
President Damphousse hosted a cookout on the Round Rock Campus on October 4, 2022. Here he is posing with one of our seniors, Brooklyn Mendez.
Hooding 2022
Our Hooding ceremony and reception was on Friday, May 13th. The graduating second years were presented with their hoods, which symbolize their completion of the requirements for the graduate program in Communication Disorders. After, they celebrated with faculty, staff, family, and friends.
Senior Celebration 2022
We celebrated our graduating undergraduate cohort on May 11th, 2022. There was snacks, games, music, and a photo booth area. Awards were also handed out for those in Alpha Eta and for outstanding senior. Congratulations class of 2022!

Texas Laryngectomee Association Presentation
Frank Brick, president of the Texas Laryngectomee Association, was invited by Kathryn Hayes on April 14, 2022, to give a presentation to the graduate students in the Dysphagia class. They were able to hear about his journey as a laryngectomee survivor, and the role of the Speech-Langauge Pathologist in his recovery. He allowed them to view his stoma and speaking valve and ask questions about this very interesting area of our field.
Grad Student Appreciation Week
We kicked off Grad Student Appreciation Week on Tuesday, April 5th, 2022. The first and second year grad students had a chance to eat and mingle while participating in a mentoring night and enjoying some Chick Fil A. We are grateful for you!
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Visit
The Department was so honored to host Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, NBA player, person who stutters, and founder of Change and Impact on March 21st, 2022. Michael shared his story as a person who stutters and the mission of his nonprofit Change and Impact with our students.
Autism Awareness Month
Our autism concentration students put together a video for Autism Awareness Month, which is the month of April.

Temple Grandin Visit
Colorado State University animal behavior expert and autism awareness activist Dr. Temple Grandin spoke with graduate students in the Department of Communication Disorders on March 3rd, 2022, about her experience growing up, thinking diversity, and how she persevered to find a career she loves. She offered advice to our future speech-language pathologists on working with individuals with autism. It was a pleasure to meet her.
"Pal"entine Event
The department and the Alumni Outreach Committee hoted a Valentine event for CDIS Students. Students, staff, and faculty could exchange words of encouragement and the event ended with coffee and donuts!

Murder Mystery Game
The department hosted a virtual Murder Mystery Game where students, faculty, and staff could get into character and have fun solving the crime.
Fall Fiesta Flambonanza
The students and Clinic faculty hosted a three-day fall event for clients. The week ended with a fall potluck for the department and included students, staff, and faculty.
