Dr. Jie Yang
Dr. Yang's research focuses on cross-linguistic investigation of the acquisition of speech production and perception abilities in monolingual and bilingual children. She is especially interested in the development of prosodic characteristic of tone and intonation. Clinically, Dr. Yang is interested in translation of this information on normal processes into understanding speech disorders and clinical issues related to culturally and liguistically diverse populations. She employs both transcription-based analysis and instrumental/acoustic analysis to understand speech production and perception in typical developing children and children with speech sound disorders. Dr. Yang has received funding and grant support from National Science Foundation, Texas State University New Faculty Startup Funding, and Texas State University Research Enhancement Program. Her lab is equipped with Pentax Medical Computerized Speech Lab (CSL™), Tucker-Davis Technologies Psychoacoustics System and various audio-visual equipment for speech data collection and processing.
