Meet Our Team

Licensed since 1978. Dr. Baylor's clinical background is in acute care, administration, and pediatrics. She assists with the clinical education team, serves as clinical instructor in clinic, and assists with the professional course sequence. 

Licensed PT since 1981. Joined the faculty at Texas State in Fall, 2014, having taught at Southwest Texas State from 1995 to 2002. Dr. Bezner was a staff Vice President at the American Physical Therapy Association for 9 years, leading the Education and Governance and Administration Units. Her PhD is in health education from the University of Texas, her interests and expertise are in health promotion, prevention and wellness, and she is a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach. Dr. Bezner chaired the Texas State University Faculty Senate 2019-2022. She became department chair in July 2021, served as Associate Dean of the College of Health Professions May 2022 – March 2023, and served as Interim Vice President of the Round Rock Campus from March – July 2023.

Licensed PT since 2016. Dr. Cariker has previously practiced in inpatient rehabilitation primarily with patients with spinal cord injuries and other neurological diagnoses. She currently practices in an outpatient setting with patients with vestibular diagnoses. Dr. Cariker assists with lecture and lab for the neuroscience and body systems series and is a clinical instructor in the on-site physical therapy clinic. She is a board-certified specialist in neurologic physical therapy and is certified in vestibular rehabilitation.

Brittany started with the Department of Physical Therapy in 2014. She is responsible for graduate advising, admissions, clinical education and student support. 

Licensed PT since 2011. A graduate of the Texas State Physical Therapy program. He completed his fellowship training at the Manual Therapy Institute in 2016. Dr. Garza assists with the musculoskeletal and anatomy sequence as well as therapeutic exercise. 

Licensed PT since 1999. Dr. Gibbs is a Certified Wound Specialist with active clinical practice in wound management. She teaches examination techniques, therapeutic interventions, special issues, patient care skills and integumentary physical therapy.

Licensed PT since 1994. Dr. Gobert previously taught at University of Kansas Medical Center and served as adjunct at University of Maryland and George Washington University. Her specialty area is vestibular rehabilitation. Gobert is part of the neuroscience team and research team. She serves as Chair of the Institutional Review Board at Texas State. 

Licensed PT since 2000. Dr. Herrin’s clinical background is in outpatient orthopedics and aquatics, and she has extensive experience in administration and leadership.  Dr. Herrin teaches in the therapeutic interventions course and serves as a clinical instructor in the on-site physical therapy clinic.

Licensed PT since 2000. He is a graduate of the Texas State Physical Therapy Program. Dr. Lorenz is part-time at Texas State and provides instruction in neuroanatomy, anatomy, and physiology.

Licensed PT since 1998. She is Board Certified in Sports Physical Therapy and completed a Sports Physical Therapy Residency in 2000. She then went on to complete a PhD in 2012 at Texas Woman’s University. Dr. Okere teaches anatomy and clinical applications for the orthopedic sequence.

Dr. Rasoulian is a graduate of the Texas State Physical Therapy program and has been a licensed PT since 2014. She completed a fellowship in manual therapy and orthopedics in 2017 and is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. Dr. Rasoulian currently practices in outpatient orthopedics with a primary focus on movement modification, wellness, and manual therapy. Dr. Rasoulian is a member of the musculoskeletal team and serves as a clinical instructor for the on-campus clinic.  

Licensed PT since 1994 and a Certified Athletic Trainer since 1984. She was a private practice owner for 16 years with specialization in sports medicine/ orthopaedics with a special interest in treating elite club, collegiate and international athletes. She is Board Certified in Orthopaedics. A graduate of Texas State Physical Therapy Program, Dr. Rich returned to the program in the fall of 2015 as a member of the musculoskeletal team. 

Licensed PT since 2015. Dr. Rodriguez has practiced primarily in neurologic rehabilitation with a focus on individuals with Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, and Traumatic Brain Injury. Dr. Rodriguez assists with lecture and lab for the Neuroscience sequence, Patient Care Skills, and as a clinical instructor during Directed Clinical. He graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2015 and from the Neurologic Physical Therapy residency in 2016, both from Texas State University.

Licensed PT since 2015. Dr. Silveira earned her PhD at Texas Woman's University in 2022 after completing dissertation research on infant physical activity and motor development. She is a board-certified pediatric clinical specialist. Dr. Silveira teaches in the neuroscience sequence and her specialty area is pediatrics. 

Licensed since 1990. He is the Director of Clinical Education and assists in patient management and other clinical courses. He has a clinical background in acute care, home health and acute rehabilitation. Dr. Spivey has a special interest in stroke and brain injury rehab, geriatrics, prosthetics/amputations and clinical education. 

Licensed since 1982. She joined Texas State in Fall 2014 with 19 years of experience teaching in a professional and post-professional physical therapy programs as well as 30 years of clinical practice. She coordinates the clinical decision making sequence. Dr. Stickley has a clinical background in neurologic physical therapy and expertise in professional development and leadership. 

Kari started with the Department of Physical Therapy in 2023.
