New Students

Welcome to Texas State University! Now that you have completed the online New Student Orientation, you will need to be advised. Please review the following steps for information about the advising process and how to schedule an advising appointment. 

Step 1: Activate your NetID and Texas State email (BobcatMail)

Activate your NetID

  • The IT Assistance Center (ITAC) assigns a unique NetID to all Texas State students. 
  • You will use your NetID to access university systems, such as the registration system, BobcatMail, and others. 
  • Instructions on how to activate your NetID can be found on the ITAC website. 

Access your BobcatMail

  • Official email communication will be sent to you through BobcatMail. Requests from other email accounts will not be answered, due to potential FERPA violations. 
  • You can access BobcatMail on the ITAC Email Support page. You can also explore available guides, such as adding BobcatMail to your mobile devices and accessing BobcatMail via Microsoft 365.
