Mission Statement
The REED (Reading, Expression, and Educational Development) Lab at Texas State University is directed by Dr. Anne C. Reed. The lab conducts research focused on improving language, literacy, and educational outcomes for children through evidence-based, collaborative, and implementation-focused approaches. Our work examines how researchers, educators, speech-language pathologists, and families can work together to support children's communication, reading, and learning across school and community settings.
We are particularly interested in translating research into practice and identifying sustainable approaches that improve access to effective language and literacy services for children with diverse learning needs.

Current Projects
Vocabulary Development in Early Elementary Students
Investigating the development of vocabulary breadth and depth in young children and examining implications for language and literacy outcomes.
Professional Development for School-Based SLPs
Investigating how professional development and implementation support strategies can improve school-based speech-language pathologists' use of interprofessional practice (IPP), or collaboration, for short.
Student Involvement
The REED Lab welcomes undergraduate and graduate students interested in language development, literacy, school-based practice, implementation science, and educational collaboration. Students may participate in research activities, including literature reviews, data collection, data analysis, dissemination, and community-engaged scholarship.
Collaborations
The REED Lab values partnerships among researchers, speech-language pathologists, educators, schools, families, and community organizations. Through collaborative research, we seek to develop practical solutions that improve communication and literacy outcomes for children.
