Join our Round Rock Campus BSHIM cohort alongside other College of Health Professions programs for face-to-face engagement with faculty and students across disciplines and enhanced interprofessional education opportunities! The campus BSHIM cohort is recommended for students completing their first university degrees and launching their healthcare careers.

The BSHI degree program (online only) emphasizes more technical skills required for the analysis and application of information to improve patient care. The BSHIM degree program (campus, online, or hybrid) emphasizes management of the health information. Both fields are in high demand!

ABOUT US

The Department of Health Informatics & Information Management offers both on-campus and online bachelor's degrees in HIM and fully online degrees in health informatics. Our BSHIM and MHIM degree programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management Education (CAHIIM).

Outcomes Results

We’re proud to share that 97% of BSHIM students and 86% of MHIM students remain enrolled in the program. When it comes to graduation, 100% of BSHIM students reach this important milestone, and 85% of MHIM students successfully complete their program.

Program Accreditation

The Health Information Management accreditor of Texas State University is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics & Information Management Education (CAHIIM).  The University's accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) degree has been reaffirmed through April 2027. Accreditation for the Master of Health Information Management (MHIM) degree has been affirmed through October 2028.
