The BSHIM degree program is available
on the Round Rock Campus, via hybrid delivery, or fully online.
The BSHI degree program is available fully online only.
With either option, you can become a credentialed member of a health profession with many jobs available in a variety of healthcare settings or work from home.
Join our Round Rock Campus BSHIM cohort alongside other College of Health Professions programs for face-to-face engagement with faculty and students across disciplines and enhanced interprofessional education opportunities! The campus BSHIM cohort is recommended for students completing their first university degrees and launching their healthcare careers.
The BSHI degree program (online only) emphasizes more technical skills required for the analysis and application of information to improve patient care. The BSHIM degree program (campus, online, or hybrid) emphasizes management of the health information. Both fields are in high demand!

Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management
The Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) at Texas State University offers a two-plus-two program, combining core curriculum and HIM professional courses, available in both on-campus and online formats.

Master of Health Information Management
The Master of Health Information Management (MHIM) at Texas State University is an accredited program that prepares leaders in health informatics and information management, equipping them with advanced knowledge and skills to handle and analyze clinical data across diverse healthcare settings.
Program Accreditation
The Health Information Management accreditor of Texas State University is the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics & Information Management Education (CAHIIM). The University's accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) degree has been reaffirmed through April 2027. Accreditation for the Master of Health Information Management (MHIM) degree has been affirmed through October 2028.
